~ Voice Classes ~

Group voice classes at C' NT are geared toward ages 6-18. Students 13 and older are encouraged to consider private or semi-private lessons. Students under the age of 13 may be considered for private or semi-private lessons, based upon their maturity and musical skills.  Student placement is based on instructor evaluation.

Group Classes/Musical Theatre

Students are part of BROADWAY BOOT CAMP. Musicals are produced in the Fall (Aladdin, Godspell, Beauty and the Beast, etc). The focus of the curriculum is the development of solid vocal technique. Skills taught include proper diaphragmatic breathing, tone, pitch, diction, and group blend. Special consideration is given to maintaining the health of the voice, i.e. using proper techniques to prevent straining the vocal cords. Basic theory, stage presence, and solo singing are also presented. More advanced skills such as harmony, simple movements for musical theater, and advanced theory are presented as allowed by time and ability of the students. Students learn a wide variety of songs, many of which are performed in C' NT s winter and spring productions, as well as in smaller performances throughout the year. In past years, students have performed sea shanties, folk songs, big band music, Broadway and Disney tunes, and top 40 hits. The material is geared toward the ages and abilities of the particular students in any given class. The FALL MUSICAL/BROADWAY BOOT CAMP is a great hit with students and parents.

Private and semi-private lessons

Private and semi-private lessons are reserved for those students who demonstrate maturity, focus, dedication, and have mastered the basics of vocal technique. Lessons are geared toward the individual needs and goals of the student(s). Panofka's The Art of Singing is used to assist the student in development of vocal technique. Students learn songs from The Art Song which give them a background in earlier musical styles, artistry, and languages such as French, Spanish, German, and Italian.  Students are strongly encouraged to choose their own music to supplement the above curriculum, and perform music of their own choosing in C'NTs two shows, as well as other smaller performances throughout the year.
