Exploration ~ THEATRE STUDENTS are part of Broadway Boot Camp. Students study Voice, Dance and Acting for musical production as part of theatre exploration. Students create, perform and evaluate.
Learning about life, its characters, its relationships, its conflicts, and tragedies, its ups and downs and thereby exploring how situations make us feel and act is all in all a class in theater--a class in which we learn about ourselves. Thus the purpose of THE STAGE = By engaging in the study of acting one engages in the study of life and human nature. "In fact," according to Dr. Robert Coles, "the theatre was originally a place of meditation, of contemplation--a public gathering for entertainment, yes, but for introspection, for a shared consideration of the nature of human experience. The history of worship--how and where it takes place--connects with the history of the theater, and for obvious reasons: when we assemble to hear others talk and sing, we are moved to thought, to wonder, to awe, to a kind of inwardness that is, actually, the very essence of who and what we are--the creature of language and awareness who asks questions about life's meaning and purpose." In ancient Greece it was thought the theater was a place where people could learn truths otherwise not stated or acknowledged. When "Kids take the stage" we are all taken somewhere important--on a journey of personal, social, and ethical discovery. HOW DOES ONE PREPARE KIDS
