About the C 'N T Progressive Syllabus & Dance Levels

About Our Progressive Syllabus:

  • Our Progressive Syllabus teaches Concepts and Fundamentals in a specifically ordered manner.

  • Units and Lesson Plans are used to relate information in an orderly fashion.

  • Concepts and basic fundamentals in voice, theatre and dance are incorporated into performance preparation.

  • Students study movement fundamentals and composition components.

  • Students learn more than just a dance, a song, a few lines to speak!.

  • Therefore, the following level sequence is very important.

The Level Sequence:

  • Pre-School Program for 3-4 year olds

  • Introduction to Dance I & II

  • Introduction to Tap

  • Fundamentals of Dance A and B

Once a student has completed the Fundamentals
of Dance A & B they may then choose to study
Tap, Jazz , or Ballet with more intensity.

  • Rhythm Tap Intensive IV - VI, teens, adults

  • Ballet A - D, teens, adults

  • Jazz A - D, teens, adults

    About Dance Levels:

    • The Introduction to Dance classes are transitional classes which bridge the gap between the Pre-school Program and the Fundamental Dance Level.  While emphasizing the same concepts as the Pre-school Program these classes begin concentration on Dance Terminology and Dance Technique.  Application of this information is used by students to created Dance Combinations for recall exercises and/or performance.

    • A higher expectation of Dance Etiquette and Dance Class Structure is begun at the Fundamental Level.  Retention of material and technical application are also carried to a higher level of expectation at the Fundamental Level. The continuation of the Dance Program stems from this basic foundation and follows a syllabus which enables students to continue in various dance forms such as Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Modern, Ballroom, Swing and Jazz Vernacular.

    • Dance History and Social History are often touched upon in order that students have a clearer understanding of the dance form they are involved in studying or performing.  To be aware that music and dance styles from various eras is a part of Dance Education is a part of dance we would like to recognize.  The Study of various styles of Music and Dance IS part of the Study of Dance.

    • C'NT incorporates the National Standards for Dance Education and are members of the Connecticut Alliance for Arts Education and The Connecticut Dance Alliance.  C'NT's founder and Artistic Director, Rosemarie Libera, is the Vice President Elect for Dance for CAHPERD for 2001 - 2002.
