Linda Cordone holds a M.A. in
Special Education, concentrate in Dance Therapy; B.S. Special/Elementary Education
Degree. Linda teaches in the Cromwell Public School System and has taught in
Alternative Educational Facilities. An Instructor of Dance she teaches Ballet, Jazz,
Tap, Modern. She has been Director of Creative Dance Camp at Company 'N Tempo and
taught Summer Session at The School of the Hartford Ballet 3-7 year olds. Linda is also a
Liturgical Dancer and often a resource person for C 'NT staff and parents.
Mickey Davidson currently teaches at Wesleyan University. A Dance Instructor
and Dance Performer, Mickey comes to us from N.Y. She has performed with the Tap Masters.
Has been featured on a National Geographic Special filmed in England on the Lindy Hoppers
and the origins of American Jazz and Swing.
William
H. Foster III M.A. in Liberal Studies, Wesleyan University, B.A. in
Journalism and Communication Studies, University of Massachusetts-Amherst; poet, Essayist,
playwright and magazine writer. Mr. Foster has written 7 plays, including LITTLE RED RANKING HOOD, MOMMA'S PLACE, and BOOKIN'. A
1997 Yale/Mellon Fellow, Bill teaches writing for the stage and theater classes. He
is currently an Associate Professor at Naugatuck Valley
Community College in Waterbury, CT.
Joshua Hilberman From his
debut in 1985 as the rear end of a donkey, to the 2000-2001 season as
choreographer-in-residence with the Canadian dance company Decidedly Jazz Danceworks,
Joshua Hilberman has enjoyed a wild ride in tap dance. Inspired by friendships with and
instruction from legendary dancers--James "Buster" Brown, Brenda Bufalino,
Charles "Honi" Coles, and mentor Joe "Buck-n-Wing"
Stirling--Hilberman's impeccable credentials have led him on tap adventures all over the
world.
Josh has been a featured soloist and instructor at tap festivals including Tap City 2001,
the New York City Tap Festival; The North Carolina Rhythm Tap Festival; DC MetroTap Fest;
The Portsmouth Percussive Dance Festival; The St. Louis Tap Festival; The Chicago Human
Rhythm Project; The Southeastern Tap Explosion; Barcelona's Nit de Claque; Montana's
Rhythm Explosion; and the fourth annual TAP festival in Dusseldorf, Germany. He has danced
at jazz festivals in Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, France, and Spain. Hilberman
spent three years with the noted company, Manhattan Tap, and in May, 2001, celebrated his
debut with mentor Brenda Bufalino's American Tap Dance Orchestra.
Hilberman doubled as dancer and master of ceremonies in the fourteen city tour,
"Fascinating Rythrns," featuring tap greats Jimmy Slyde and Savion Glover. His
controversial one-man show "White Jew Blues" received rave reviews from the
Boston media for it's playful and provocative look at racial issues in American life. In
December, 2000 Hilberman created the role of"Jazz Nut" in the jazz nutcracker,
"Clara's Dream, " and in January, 2001, was guest performer in Decidedly Jazz
Danceworks winter season, "2001: A Tap Odyssey." In May, 2001, Josh was honored
to be selected as guest choreographer and soloist in the lOth anniversary celebration of
Tappers With Attitude. In January, 2002, he makes his Australian debut as a soloist at the
Freemantle Jazz Festival.
Hilberman is one of the leading choreographers of tap dance today. His work can be seen on
companies and indi~iduals including VanVeen/deBraal (Amsterdam), TapaToe (Berlin), The
Legacy Dancers (Boston), Decidedly Jazz Danceworks and Youth Dance Unlimited (Calgary),
The Tap Collective (New York), Step Aside (Washington DC) as well as in two premier youth
ensembles, Washington DC's Tappers With Attitude and the North Carolina Youth Tap
Ensemble.
Hilberman has instructed thousands in the fine art of tap dance. He has been a faculty
member of the Leon Collins Dance Studio, Roger Williams University, and Mount Holyoke
College, and currently freelances internationally.
Jeannie Hill has been an associate artistic director and principal
performer of Jump Rhythm Jazz Project
since its founding in 1990. She has toured
extensively with Siegenfeld nationally and internationally, both performing their chamber
jazz musical "Romance in Swingtime" as well as other repertory duets and solos,
and teaching the Jump Rhythm Jazz and Tap techniques. In addition to choreographing for
JRJP, she has also created pieces for Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Manhattan Tap, Alaska
Dance Theatre and The Triangle Tap Company. As a tap soloist she has danced at the
Discover Jazz Festival, Sculler's Jazz Club, The Saco River Grange Hall, Zinno's and The
Supper Club, and toured internationally with Manhattan Tap for seven years. In December
2000 she played Clara in the world premier of "Clara's Dream," a jazz tap
Nutcracker conceived by Drika Overton. She teaches at various festivals and workshops,
including the Summer Institute of Classic Jazz and Tap, Portsmouth Percussive Dance
Festival, Jazzart, Rhythm Explosion, University of New Mexico Rhythm Tap Dance Festival,
Jazz Immersion at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (Calgary), Inside Out Productions (Toronto),
and International Tanzwerkstatt (Germany), among others. She continues to gig with her
comic country band The Chalks with co-writers/performers Mary Brienza and Kathryn Markey.
The trio made their television debut as special guests on Comedy Central's "Premium
Blend." Jeannie holds a B.A. in theatre from the University of Vermont, and is
currently teaching Tap at Manhattanville College."
Megan Lee Morrill is a Tap Specialist. She has trained with Brenda Bufalino at
Woodpecker's Tap Studio in New York City. She has also studied with several Tap and Jazz
Artists--Gregory Hines, Harold Nicholas, Savion Glover, Hen LeTang, Chuck Green, Ted Levy,
Pam Killinger, Debbi Dee and Joe Tremaine, Frank Hatchett, and with Gelsey Kirkland in
N.Y. Megan has toured with the Dance Olympus National Tour carrying the title of
Miss Dance Olympus. She has received several awards -- NATIONAL CHAMPION-DANCE OLYMPUS --
NATIONAL CHAMPION RISING STAR -- PRESIDENT'S CUP /DRA NATIONALS -- PRESIDENT'S CUP
(CHOREOGRAPHY) / DRA NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP -- PENN.GOVERNOR ' S SCHOOL FOR THE PERFORMING
ARTS -- Megan has performed with JIMMY SLYDE at LaCave NY City NY. She has also
toured from Las Vegas, NE to Boston, MA.
Michelle Olerud
B.A. in Dance from University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. Boston
Conservatory of Music, Dance and Theater, former School of The Hartford Ballet, CT.
and Hartford Camerata Conservatory, CT. Michele was a Dancer/Performer with "Sesame
Street Live" U.S. National Tour 1992-93. She performed with the Haitian-American
Dance Theatre, Boston, MA. Michele has choreographed for an N.B.C. Movie, "She Led
Two Lives", Trollwood Performing Arts School, Fargo, ND. Michele is presently
Administrative Assistant of Dance Department at Wesleyan University, CT and teaches tap,
jazz, African and works with children of all ages.
